No Hate Crime

I have been an active person in promoting if that is the right word, to get rid of  HATE CRIME, after my self and my partner Dean where attacked for being Gay and living together as a married couple, we where so proud of our wedding / Civil Partnership that we had it put into the Local paper like a straight couple do, so why not if they can why can’t we.

When we did we had no idea that people would re-act like they did and from this we ended up moving home, we did report it to the police but nothing came from it so didn’t bother after that.

However that was a few years back and things have changed for the best so if your a victim of hate crime or know of anyone who is, please note that there are so many other people out there who are victims of hate crime and find it hard to report it, but there is help out there and so many ways of reporting it.

So What you class as hate crime.

Hate Crimes happen because of hostility, prejudice or hatred of:

• disability
• gender identity
• race, ethnicity or nationality
• religion or belief
• sexual orientation.

They include things like name calling and verbal abuse, bullying and harassment, spitting and physical attacks, damage to property, graffiti, and written notes, emails and text messages.

There are 3rd Party reporting in some areas of UK too.

But if it’s urgent then ring 999.

Hate Crime is level 2 in the police response and that means they will try and respond within a few hours.

So don’t be a victim any more report it and help stamp out hate crime.

July and August 2010

Well Last month on the 2nd July me and Dean marked my mum’s death of 10 years by putting a new ground down on her grave and making it look like a garden of heaven.

And apart from that the last few months have been a bit up and down for me to say the least, was told I could have a Cochlear implant and then few weeks later I was then told I couldn’t, and by going to see the consultant he looked into my ears to see my brain but couldn’t find it, no on a serious matter, he was a bit concerned about the stuff in my ear he is now sending me for a MRI scan on my head, but then we realised they may not do it as I have titanium implants in my jaws, I tell you my life is complicated and don’t do things by halfs.

So I rang the MRI unit and they are happy to scan me and they will put something over my jaw.

My bladder is knackered, I think a full body transplant is in order.

My Volunteer at One Voice job is good, been there now since April and enjoy it, I am Information and Community Development worker, which I meet like minded people like myself and we all have 1 thing in common we are all disabled in one way or another, and also still the Disability Access Person at the One Voice.

Last week was my 38th Birthday can’t believe in 2 years time I am 40, where does the time go, didn’t do much was ill part of the day, and a bit annoyed has some of my friends had forgotten it was my birthday and 1 said it was because it wasn’t on Facebook so I have taken the step by de-activating my Facebook, but true friends wouldn’t have needed Facebook to remind them.

So much to do so little time.

Hi everyone,

Well the last few months have been a bit of a roller coaster and not had much time to blog, so thought I had better let you know I am still around and what I am up to these days, before I do I hope your all well and keeping strong in this climate we are all in (UK) with the job cuts and benefit changes, also my condolences go out to all those brave soldiers who have sadly died in Afghanistan since I last blogged, and respect to those still out there fighting for our freedom.

Where do I start, well the job I started at One Voice has taken off and I am doing all new things with the Disabled Access Guide it’s taken me places I would have thought and met new people, you can keep up to date with the access work I do on facebook by clicking here and if you want more information on Disability Access issues you can email them webmail@disabilityaccess.info

Dean and myself are working on doing a all new website and also mobile phone version of the guide which is generating great interest from local council and NHS.

We looking at finishing it all by next month, and will be having an official launch for it with the press and officials involved.

I am also doing Diversity work with other organization and last week was at HMP Lancaster Farms and hopefully doing work with them too.

COPD I have been having breathing problems for a few months and went to my GP and I have had test etc, last week I was told I have COPD but won’t know how bad till next week.

Cochlear implants, well has you may know I have been putting off having these done, but few weeks ago I had a test so now I am waiting on going to Preston to see specialist who deals with Cochlear implants.

One Voice and Disability Forum

Hi there, Well been a busy few weeks went to see my IB officer at the DWP regarding me going back into work, she and I both decided that I would be best to start off doing Part time Voluntary work.

So went to Help Direct and if I am completely honest they weren’t that helpful didn’t feel like I would be part of there team and few days later they telephoned me and asked me for some paper work which I handed in but they couldn’t find it so that also put me off.

Then I went to One Voice Cornerstones and from the moment I walked in and meet a lady called Anne who was very welcoming and helpful I could see me there, anyway she asked me to call back the following week to see the Manager which I did.

Following week came and went to see Jo another nice lady who made me feel welcomed and invited me back to a Disability Forum Meeting the following evening, I worked in the building many years ago when it was a day centre and I was doing my Mental Health Training.

So attended the Disability Forum Meeting which was informative and I was asked on to that group which also has a Working Group on Wednesdays so I am doing that now.

On the Tuesday after I met another wonderful person called Tony who runs the One Voice Access Guide which is like a directory of places that other a wide range services for disabled people.

So I am now working on the One Voice Disability “Good Access Guide 2010/2011″ so I am busy and very much enjoying it too.

COPD

Well was at the Doctors on Friday just gone and he wasn’t that happy with my breathing so today (Monday) I have been to the local Hospital for a Chest X-Ray.
I am worried as COPD is in my family, has some of you may know my Mum had it and my 2 aunties had it so it’s very much at the front of my mind.

I was born like my mum with a Cleft Palate and Bone problems so the Doctors and Hospital do check me regular for chest problems but this first time I have been with a complaint with my chest.

What is COPD

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease also known as chronic obstructive lung disease,  is the main term used to describe chronic lung diseases that are characterized by progressive limitations of the airflow into and out of the lungs, and increased shortness of breath as the disease progresses.

COPD, an insidious disease which is often first diagnosed after some of the lung capacity is already lost, is usually not fully reversible. It is possible to have early stages of COPD without knowing it.

The common characteristics of COPD are:

Shortness of breath:

breathlessness during normal activities
decreased exercise tolerance

Wheezing:

changes in your breathing

Chronic Cough:

excessive phlegm (mucus) production
morning “smokers cough”

Recurring respiratory infections:

bouts of bronchitis every winter

Prevention is the thing here, YES until recently I was a smoker and enjoyed it, but now I do regret starting, I know I may not have COPD but I could have it later in life so by not smoking I reduce the risk of me getting it, but if I have it then I reduce the risk of it getting hold of me by not smoking.

Well today Dean has been helping Emma and Mikela move flat and I looked after there cats at our home and at same time wait for a delivery to arrive, so been a very boring day really.

Tuesday

Well woke up this morning to snow every where even thou our local forecast was rain and frost, and onces again Britain has snow Britain comes to a stand still, the schools in our area have all been closed, rail services disrupted.

So yes it’s Cold and bloody wet and that just in the bedroom he he he, No serious this snow is bad here in UK we are right on the coast with Morecambe Bay and it’s like being in the Antartic at times with the bitter cold and icy wind with the snow.

What I can’t understand is why is it when the UK gets snow the rail and roads come to a halt, it’s not like we never ever had snow in the 2000 years we been on earth, anyway on the News they say it going to get worse and be like it way into late January

And what about Us Brits going out and panic buying in the supermarkets and buying loads of cat litter to spread over there drive ways.

Snow or no Snow I needed to go to the doctors and it took us nearly 1 hour to walk there where normally it takes about half hour, but got there in the end.

Well the doctor has put me on some new medications so that another 1 to add to my collection.

Epilim 200mg (2 Daily)

Mirtazapine 30mg (1 at Night)

Tramadol Hydrochloride 50mg (8 Daily)

Meloxicam 7.5 mg (1at Night)

Amitriptyline 10mg (1 at Night)

Paracetamol 500mg (8 Daily)

Tolterodine 4mg (1 at Night)

Omerprazole 20mg (2 Daily)

Creaon 100000mg (8 Daily)

Movicol 13.8g (When Needed)

Ventolin 100  (2 puffs Daily)

Nasofan Aqueous (4 puffs Daily)

Any way off to bed to keep warm.

Wednesday

Well didn’t wake up till 13.oo (1pm) this is due to me taking my new medication last night,  took it around 22.00hrs (10pm) and within about an hour I was fast asleep and then next thing I knew it was the following day and afternoon.

But thats 1st time I have had a good nights sleep in a long time so not bothered.

Today we recieved a nice call today regarding a new house / home can’t say too much until after tomorrow when they ring us back.

This evening went to Morrisons with our friends Sarah and Mick has we need to stay home tomorrow until we have recieved that important phone call.

Another Snowy and Cold day here in Morecambe like many parts in the county and on the news they say it’s going to get worse as we head to the weekend.

Well we stayed in all day today has we was waiting on that important phone call, and it didn’t come till after 17.00hrs (5pm) anyway it was good news and now we meeting them on Monday hope the good news continues.

But going to the area to look tomorrow to see what its like hope it’s nice and what we want.

Apart from that we not done much or been anywhere so not lot to say tonight sorry !!!

Hi well 2010 has finally arrived, another decade and hopefully a new start for Me and Dean

Thank you to Sheila Nolan and Andy Young  for doing a great new years party and this was the 1st party me and Dean have been to for New Year Eve, it was a great night Thanks Again.

Well today as you would espect we have chilled out after last night, went to the Emmersons to let off a Lantern for New Year and also for Loved Ones who no longer with us.

Well after having a restless night and feeling very dry all night, we got up and went to a friend Edith to drop her birthday card off for tomorrow 74 tomorrow she is but acts like 54 no flys on her.

Then off into town and Dean saw his sister Michelle after quite some time, she said hello and Dean had to look twice I couldn’t believe how much she looked like Dean, she just started at High School so growing up fast, it was nice to see her and made Deans day and put a big smile on his face.

This evening we uploaded the Video from yesterday doing the  lighting of Lanterns round at Sarahs for my Mum and Sarah’s Nana see the video here

We watched the last too Doctor Who’s with David Tenant in on Sky plus and what a brillant end it was too, I personaly feel they should of ended it there with it being called The End Of Time instead they done a new series with Matt Smith has the new Doctor will wait and see.

Well today we just chilled out today watching Davina McCall Night she is presenting  Got to Dance on Sky 1 at 6pm and 7pm tonight which me and Dean along with some friends went to watch in Manchester while filming, and it was good to be there too, so when we watching it tonight we saw ourselves on TV and good to watch both programmes tonight some brilliant dancers and some crap ones too.

Well went shopping today for a few bits before the New Year of 2010 and how I am looking forward to it too, and you know after all these years some people still find it hard to accept me, but you know years or months I have just let it go and still became part of the circle if you get me, so now  I am not bothered accept me or not it’s up to them because I am not going out of my way anymore to try and fit in. I have my Partner Dean who is my lover, best friends, soul mate, confidont, my little Fido and some bloody brilliant friends who have been there for years and been there when I have needed them and that is all that matters to me now.

Today we went to see New Moon at Vue in Lancaster finally and I did feel it was very slow to start with and was a bit disapointed with it has really thought it would have been 110% better than the 1st Twilight films.

4 days till Christmas day

Well 1st day of Christmas Week, this week will officially be the worst and stressful week for lots of people trying to get last minute gifts.

Well up early as had to travel from Morecambe to Manchester and back again for a hospital appointment, my friend Emma C was driving and I did feel sorry for her as on the way the snow was bad and the motorway was bad with this., it took around 2 and half hours to get to Manchester.

We arrived ok and going to get the ticket for the car Dean went flat on his ass couldn’t help but laugh sorry babe love you loads.

I had to go to the new Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and I will be honest I felt un-comfortable being 37 years old and sat in a childrens hospital but will have to get used to it because that where the Cleft Palate and Lip Unit is now.

Well they said at the hospital I was OK but slightly concerned that my left side of my cleft may be opening up AGAIN but I say if it is then tough I am NOT going through any more operations on my Cleft unless its really necessary to have it done.

Now resting up as got another busy day tomorrow with Dean.

Tuesday

Another day nearer to to Christmas, today is Tuesday and woke up to the snow even though we seen it last night.

Well today we went to the Cemetery to put Christmas flowers on my mum’s grave and because of the snow it looked very nice for a cemetery, but also very slippery too, after there me and Dean continued our walk in the snow to the doctors for Deans appointment and then back home which was a nightmare as it was later in the day and the temp had dropped and every where had started to ice over, and trying to walk up and down hills not good….

Now chilling ready for tomorrow’s Royal Lancaster Infirmary visit so not looking for to that, I am having a Urodynamic Test, where they stick tubes up inside your penis into your bladder.

So will say Night and hope it’s not as bad with the snow tomorrow.

Wednesday

Well was up early today because has you know I was at The Royal Lancaster Infirmary for my Urodynamic Test and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone laying on a trolley bed showing all my bottom half with 2 females (they where very nice but would have pervered males for obvious reason) stood there is bad enough, but then have 2 tubes stuck trough your Japs Eye of my Penis direct into my bladder (this called a japs eye due to the similarity between the shape of the stereotypical eye and that the opening on the penis is much like a slit) and then another tube up my back passage to my bowel, and then having water pumped direct into my bladder I tell you it was so uncomfortable and stinging alot this was due to the anesthetic injected into my penis before hand.

After the test they said it will hurt for a few days and will be hard to wee, well yeah I would have thought that and to drink plenty of fluids to prevent infection.

Anyway went shopping after for last bits for the big day which is only 2 days off, today is the last offical working day as tomorrow there is lots of places on half day work.

I will blog tomorrow which is Christmas Eve and then will be after Boxing day has spending time with my lovely partner Dean and dear friends.

Thursday
Well today is Christmas Eve today and everything is all go, the Turkey and Pork is cook and veg is ready and we ready, presents wrapped up and we all ready now. My brilliant and loving partner Dean did a lovely thing he got a Lantern lit you for my late mum Maureen Clifford. So on that lovely note please all have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful Holiday in the US.

Christmas Day to Sunday 27th

Well Happy Christmas to you all and hope you all had a great time, well I must of been good because Santa was good to me and I got what I wanted more Bling and watches, don’t think I got anything I didn’t need this year.

Dean was happy well over the moon with his present from me a E Reader and loads of E Books, after we opened our presents and may I just say Thank you to all those who sent Cards, presents and E Cards, we got ready to go to the Emmerson for Dinner.

We went to the Emmerson who are Sarah & Mick, the 2 children are Hannah and Ashley around 11am and we had a great meal which me and Dean cooked as no room in our home for all of us so went to theres for it.

Watched TV, listerned to Music, Played games but most of all had a brilliant time and such a laugh, this is what Christmas is about.

Boxing Day

Spent most of it getting ready for our party this evening, doing food and drink, Hannah and Dean and Myself did it all and the party went with a bang, another good party had by the Clintons.

Well this is the final full week before Christmas and New Year, so come Friday some people will be glad has Work finishes and School ends until Jan 2010.

But Spare a thought for those who aren’t so lucky to be off over Christmas and also the Army lads and lasses who are serving in Iraq – Afganistan

Also just a thought that over the X Factor final weekend ITV earned quote from the Times online “ Cowell also co-produces X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, shows that have saved ITV. The estimated cost of a 30-second advertising slot during the weekend’s X Factor final?” now we in a credit crunch and they making over a million pound for every set of adverts.

Well today we went into town wasn’t put long has weather not too good and besides that I am not feeling to good my self my back and legs playing up AGAIN!!! becoming too much again and getting me depressed, going to try and get into see doctors next week.

Well its off to bed again dosen’t seem that long since I got up.

Not much to say today been in bed most of it come down with a cold so need to get rid of it before my 2 hospital apointments next week.

Still got cold so staying in the warm again today, Dean at his Charity work today till 3pm so just relaxing.

Thursday

Well not up to much again today apart from shopping with Amanda and Dean for the last bits of stuff for the year, Amanda off to London tomorrow but not sure if she will get there with the weather like it is, In Morecamber there is no snow just very bittley cold, however down south i’ts snowing quite bad.

Went to friends Sarah and Mick this evening and we had a laugh as normally we do because we are all mad together and Christmas Day going to be mad.

Was on my Twitter account this evening and with nearly everyone else on there we was tweetering away and keeping Davina Mcall company has she was stuck in snow driving home, in the end it took her 10 hours to get home from 11pm till 8.30am on a journey that would have taken only a few hours, from London to Kent

Well can I say I hope all the people down South have a safe week and weekend with the snow and hope we get some snow for Christmas Day and yes I am Dreaming of a White Christmas

Today went for a walk to get my medication and somthing for a sore throat as woke with one today, watched the last ever Paul O’grady show on Channel 4 and also a week today is Christmas Day so has you would know all the TV shows on are all Christmas specials.

Heston Blumenthal Christmas Feast on C4 this man can do wonders with food love watching him.

Far as I know Amanda got to London OK but if she gets back home in time for Christmas day well that remains to be seen with the snow.

Well went to Lancaster and Asda with my babe Dean and friends Emma and Mickela, it was mad very busy think we sort of knew that with it being last weekend before Christmas day.

Also quick note On Monday 21st December at 9pm  ITV1 please try and watch The Sun Heros of the Armed Forces Awards and show your support to the lads and lasses in the Armed Forces who won’t be home at Christmas instead will be in Iraq or Afganistan.

Been messing on my site today adding and taking stuff off so why not have a look.

Well another cold and wintery day today so stay in doors, we had a nice vistit from our friend Tamara and her Daughter Isla who is so funny and makes me laugh, they came out in the cold to see us today that’s good friends for you.

This evening Dean and I have been setting up our joint site where we can blog jointly and put the stuff we do together on there, have a look here

Our other friends Sarah and Mick have been on the road home for hours, due to the snow they had taken a few hours extra from Kings Lyn to Morecambe, they home safe now, but they snow is causing so much disruption in the UK.

I can’t undertand why when it snows Britian comes to stand still, snow has been around for has long as we have so you would think we would be better prepared for it and with having all that bad snow back in Feb 2009 you would think that the Highway agency would have plans in place ready. RANT OVER !!!

So I am wondering with the snow would I be able to get to my Cleft Palate appointment tomorrow in Manchester, I hope so not been for over 18 months.

So incase I do get to be able to go Manchester I had better go bed so.
